At the same time that Colortrac announced the release of its new 42” wide-format scanners, the company followed up with an announcement about a new 28” wide-format scanner series. The Gx+ 28 series is replacing the Gx 25 models first introduced in 2007. The Gx+ 28 series is based on the same hardware platforms as the Gx+ 42 series and offers 1,200 dpi optical resolution using CCD scanning technology. The Gx+ 28 series consists of six different scanners priced in from $6,795 to $9,395.
The new Gx+ 28 scanners target the Graphic, GIS, CAD, and AEC markets.

A month after Colortrac announces its new 56” wide format scanners they followed up with a new announcement of a new 42” wide format scanner series. The Gx+ 42 is replacing the Gx42 first introduced in 2007. The Gx+ 42 series are based on the same hardware platforms as the GX+ 56 series and is a 1,200 dpi optical resolution scanner based on CCD scanning technology. The Gx+ 42 series consist of 6 different scanners priced in the range from $9,995 to $14,295.
The new Gx+ 42 scanners target the GIS, CAD and AEC market place.

Image Access released a revised version of its 36” wide WideTek series scanner. Now a chassis D model, it replaces the previous version designated as chassis C. The new scanner has new and faster CCD cameras, increasing the speed to a whopping 12.4 ips in both color and monochrome at 200 dpi resolution. Océ releases the CS4236 36" CAD scanner.

Océ announced in September and released in November its first 1,200 dpi optical resolution CIS scanner aimed at the AEC, CAD, and GIS environments. The Océ CS4236 scanner is priced less than the critical $10,000 mark at $9,600, which includes the stand and Océ Copy Express scanning software in a ready-to go package. The Océ CS4236 scanner is an OEM product from Contex; however Contex does not distribute this model based on Océ’s specifications. This arrangement makes the new Océ CS4236 scanner unique and allows Océ to differentiate itself in the market. Together with the new Océ CS4300 scanner series, Océ now provides a more consistent line of scanner models.

Although announced in September 2008, Océ finally released its new CS4300 scanner series in November, which replaced the older CS4100 scanner series. All of the scanners are OEM products from Contex with Océ enhancements achieved by slightly changing some scanner configurations and adding the Océ Scanning and Copying software to better differentiate the products in the very competitive scanner marketplace.
